Crystal clear underwater sound
Our goal is to make the impressive underwater world audible in a high-quality way. Ambient Soundfish underwater microphones are used for exactly this purpose by film professionals, foley artists and scientists worldwide. For example, our hydrophones have been used in the impressive BBC underwater documentary "Blue Planet" but are also used by research institutions.
WHY Ambient Hydrophones?
Crystal clear, low-noise sound from infra- to ultrasonic. Due to the high sensitivity and the associated enormous signal-to-noise ratio of our hydrophones, dynamics of far over 100 dB can be represented. Even the smallest sounds of a grain of sand can be recorded noise-free. Waterproof up to 100 meters and saltwater resistant, our underwater solutions are a faithful companion on every dive.
Sensitivity
When we started building our own hydrophones in 2012 our goal was to build affordable and easy-to-use units without a compromise in sound quality and durability.
The Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons, Maritime Technology and Research (WTD 71) of the Bundeswehr (German armed forces) tested the ASF-1 MKII in September 2021. The data shows that we get very close to industry-leading manufacturers like Reson or Brüel & Kjær in terms of sensitivity over a wide frequency spectrum. The specifications here represent the average of all measured units.
