The UWM 20 with its circular search head adds to the range of SECON underwater metal detectors a particularly cost-favourable, easy to use and precise PI detector. It is intended for use in the hobby sector and also in professional fields of application. The UWM 20 is based on technical features of EBINGER detectors that are in use on every continent. The UWM 20 is used primarily for the detection of small and medium-size metal objects which the diver can recover without great effort. The detector detects ferrous and non-ferrous metals including gold and silver. Thanks to its circular search head, the UW scanner offers a larger detection range than the UWPP 10 with its rod-type sensor. The range within which metal objects may be detected depends on their size, location and material as well as also on the conditions for detection.
The UWM 20 underwater hand sensor applies a microprocessor controlled pulse-induction process (PI). Weak magnetic pulses generate eddy currents in the objects being searched for; these retroact on the sensor as a magnetic echo. This response signal is converted electronically into a vibration alarm. The digital PI system permits the detector to be used in both, freshwater and saltwater. As a result of the static mode of detection, deductions can be made on the size and depth of the detected metallic items.
The advantages of the design are to hand in the truest sense of the word: small, compact design, vibration alarm, no headset, no disrupting connection cable! The electronics and the battery compartment are built into the handle. The closure screw at the end of the handle switched the detector on or of when it is turned clockwise/ anticlockwise. The battery compartment becomes accessible when the closure is removed. After the detector has been switched on, to optimize the vibration threshold the sensitivity can be set by turning the setting ring at the front end of the handle. Either a 9 Volt block battery (6LR61) or a NiMH rechargeable battery (6F22) can be used. Low battery voltage is indicated by vibration pulses at intervals.
* Depends on the temperature and the quality of the battery / rechargeable battery used.
